To all my fellow spoonies who are facing a challenging couple of weeks:
It sucks that you’re going to have to say ‘No’ more often that you want to
It sucks that you’re going to have to miss out on things
It sucks that you may be unfairly judged and misunderstood
It sucks that you may end up feeling lonely and isolated at a time when it seems like everyone else is coming together
It sucks that you can’t indulge without painful consequences
It sucks that you may be feeling overwhelmed
It sucks that you have to worry about how much worse you might be feeling at the end of it all
All the difficult feeling that you may be having about all of this are valid. I totally understand them
Acknowledge and accept all your feelings with compassion. Allow them to flow… it will free them up to pass. It will free you to make the most of things
You deserve to be as well as possible over the next few weeks
You deserve to put your well-being first
You deserve to state your boundaries simply, without explanations and justifications…simply ‘I need’
You deserve to be as joyful as possible over the next few weeks
Your joy is important, don’t put it at the end of the queue behind all the chores and everyone else’s
You deserve to be loved, considered and understood. If that’s not your experience, remember that says more about the people around you than it does about you!
Taking great care of yourself over the next couple of weeks isn’t selfish, you’ll be able to spend more quality time with people and share more joy and love if you take great care of yourself.
So be firm with your needs. Listen to your body, stop when you need to, save some energy for some fun if you can.
Take a lot of time to rest peacefully
Pay attention to all the little joys around you. Little things count.
I love you!
May your next few weeks include so much love, joy and laughter.
But let your well-being come first!
